SUGAR

I LOVE FOOD. Better yet I LOVE TO EAT!!! I was once under the impression that in order to be healthy and fit I would have to give up everything I know and love. 1. NO SUGAR!!! Except for that fake wanna be sugar crap, RIGHT??? WRONG!!! Sugar is defiantly aloud, and you can eat the good stuff. In fact eating the real, unprocessed, man made crap is what your body responds best to. When you are drinking/eating the no sugar, no taste, no nothing but chemicals soda, candy, gum, food, and whatever else you can think of. You are actually sending a signal to your brain that says "hey where is the sugar"? Then your body will automatically crave and seek out the real stuff. Could this be why I undoubtedly fail every time? I am forever forcing myself with this no sugar rule, most diets have, and then picking up the other rule that says eat this fake sugar instead. Not only does it destroy your gut if you eat to much, but in the end you are left feeling unsatisfied. Your cravings for real sugar take over your entire body and you give up and within a short amount of time you fail. You go on a major overeating binge and then gain back the 2 pounds you lost and 10 more. (That is what I have always done anyway) Thus, defeating the purpose of the soda/food in the first place. For me I guess it has always been I'll do it tomorrow and when tomorrow comes I am overcome with a major addiction, urge, craving, an uncontrollable desire that needs to be satisfied, to EAT or rather to INDULGE! Even though the night before I went to bed sick to my stomach, mad as heck at myself, and vowing I would never eat junk food again (SWEETS)! Often times I gorge myself, you see, I will eat some good food and feel like now that I have that out of the way I can eat some yummy (by yummy I mean seriously sugary) stuff. One chocolate ice cream for me, and a couple for the taste buds, and before you know it the box is gone and I'm driving to the store for more. One thing you should know is that SUGAR is a DRUG! Just like COCAINE only instead of making you thin and whacked out you get fat and whacked out. The same need is filled in your brain sensors with sugar, meth, cocaine, alcohol you name the drug, they all trigger the same effect in the brain. The point is, if you are using sugar for anything more than a weekly or monthly treat you are an addict. The best way to stop something like this is cold turkey. 1. Get everything out of your house that contains sugar in it! EVERYTHING!!!! Donate it, trust me you are not strong enough you will relapse and in a few weeks you will hate yourself again. Sugar is intended as one of life's pleasures not a staple as it has become to most all of us. You may think, I don't eat much sugar. If you are eating anything off of the shelves like, chips, soup, crackers, bread, peanut butter, jelly, honey anything that you can think of that you buy from the store that has been built, processed or prepared for you, it all has SUGAR in it. PROMISE. Check it out! Companies do this so you keep coming back, just like with drugs! Moral to the story... Eat SUGAR as a treat! Once a week or even better once a month and when you do have the real stuff. Real as in whatever you can get that has the least processing done to it. (AGAVE NECTAR is pretty good) When you do, don't eat the whole tub of ice cream or a bag of whatever; instead get something very rich and satisfying that will quench your need and satisfy the want.

I for one am taking back all that I have given to the demon of sugar. I am going back to the old day's of livin' when ice cream was a rare occasion and chocolate bars meant Christmas or Halloween. When sweets usually meant someones birthday, a promotion or anniversary. My journey begins with this first #1 rule. Sugar is a special treat! Wish me luck!!

Signing off for now,

Fat Girl Gone Thin
